Our Story
WORKSHOP BUILT
PROVEN ON SCREEN
Thirty years. Hundreds of productions. One obsession, making vehicles do things nobody thought possible.
The Action Factory
Where vehicles become the real stars of the show
Every set has a split-second when an engine note rises, cameras roll, and the entire crew holds its breath. That moment, when fiction feels utterly real, is what drives The Action Factory.
For over thirty years, our team has designed, built and prepared picture vehicles for some of the biggest titles in modern cinema and television. From Bond’s bruising chase through Quantum of Solace to the dust‑choked drama of Indiana Jones and the raw intensity of The Bourne Supremacy, our craftsmanship lives right where audience pulse rates spike.
We began as race engineers and metal fabricators, lugging a handful of shipping containers around the globe to service live shoots. Today we operate from a purpose‑built HQ packed with CNC mills, 3‑D printers and a fabrication floor that can turn a bare chassis into a camera‑ready hero car—complete with concealed stunt controls—faster than most productions can lock a script. Yet the spirit hasn’t changed: every bolt we tighten, every panel we skin, is still guided by the sand‑in‑your‑teeth realism of practical effects.
Directors come to us when CGI just won’t cut it. They know we can stretch a Ferrari 308 into a 288 GTO, dress a fleet of EV race cars for a forthcoming Formula 1 epic, or engineer a remote‑drive rig that lets the lead actor look fearless while a pro driver keeps the car on the limit. They trust us because our vehicles start first time, hit their marks and survive take after take—no drama, unless it’s in the script.
If your story demands a vehicle that can outshine a close‑up, you’re in the right workshop. Tell us what you need and we’ll build the machine, the myth and the moment. Ready to roll? Get in touch
Graham Kelly - Founder
RACE ENGINEER,
FILM SPECIALIST,
AWARD WINNER
The Action Factory was founded by Graham Kelly, a race engineer who crossed into film when a production needed someone who truly understood how vehicles behave at their limits. What began in a shipping container has grown into one of the industry’s most trusted vehicle-action outfits.
With over 30 years of experience spanning Formula 1 paddocks and Hollywood backlots, Graham built a team of specialists who share his obsession with precision, safety, and making the impossible look effortless on camera.
Today, the workshop in Surrey is the beating heart of every build, from hero car transformations to bespoke camera rigs, and Graham remains hands-on for every major production.
